I lied to you,
it wasn’t quite how you imagine.
time-twisted shapes easily shift, as you know,
and I don’t mind at all
that weeks washed colour from your vivid pain.
It was that evening
when you combed my hair so gently
and your flaccid tongue in my mouth was as cold and dead as
a slug-fed fledgling.
you made my flesh crawl.

So powerful. like all of your writing. This one has a trick in it, the frist half makes you use your tongue carefully because of the correct diction required so the ending tongue reference just hits home in a big way, also you are a brilliant poet, the best I’ve ever met.

  2. The first word that comes to my mind is cyanide. Not for any other reason but for being the only thing I could think of which was as powerful in a small dose as this verse.
